Stoke City have confirmed a swap deal that will see Kenwyne Jones join Cardiff City in exchange for Peter Odemwingie, subject to a medical and personal terms being agreed.
It will be a relief for Mark Hughes to offload Jones, who reportedly refused to join up with the match day squad for Stoke's 3-5 defeat to Liverpool, and informed his manager of his decision by text.
Odemwingie of course, is no stranger to an attitude problem, his West Brom career ended acrimoniously as his overtures to Queens Park Rangers reached the point where he took it upon himself to drive to Loftus Road unbeknownst to Harry Redknapp.
Cardiff will be hoping Jones' power and aerial ability can bag them crucial goals in their fight against the drop, if Jones can motivate himself at his new club.
It is unclear yet what role Mark Hughes sees the Nigerian forward playing at The Britannia Stadium, but it indicates that less money is being made available to the Welshman this year as Chairman Peter Coates tightens the purse strings.
This isn't a deal that will particularly set the pulses racing for either club's supporters, but there is an opportunity for both of these players to prove their doubters wrong and earn their new teams valuable points.
