The Nigeria U21 star made a big impression as he scored his side’s lone goal in their International Cup victory over FC Porto
Nigerian youngster Kelechi Iheanacho scored the lone goal in Manchester City’s Youth team 1-0 defeat of FC Porto to win the inaugural Premier League International Cup.
The 17-year-old latched onto a horribly short backpass from Igor Osorio, rounded the keeper and calmly poked the ball home to put City ahead in the fourth minute.
Helped by a rowdy crowd that included brass players, the Blues were well up for the game and looked lively in the opening stages.
Manuel Pellegrini and several of his first-team stars watched on as Patrick Vieira's side put in a determined defensive performance to protect their early lead and claim a deserved victory.
Iheanacho who is expected to feature for the Flying Eagles in the 2015 World Youth Championship was substituted in the second half by Brandon Barker.
Patrick Viera’s boys will travel to Old Trafford for a crucial showdown in the league with leaders United, with City looking to keep their faint title hopes alive with a derby victory.
